Kristian Johnasson and co-driver Fredrik Livh came away from round one of the 2012 Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge Sweden - last weekend’s Rally Uppsala - with smiles on their faces, having scored their first ever victory in the series for Group N Mitsubishi Lancers. They took the lead on stage six and, over the remaining two stages, held off a challenge from last year’s Champions Patrik Johansson/Jesper Johansson to win by a margin of 12.7 seconds.
The Rally Uppsala saw the start of the fifth consecutive season for the Evolution Challenge in Sweden, with 10 out of the 14 registered teams entering the event - which was also round one of the Swedish Rally Championship. But concerns over the weather, with not enough ice and snow covering the gravel forest roads - right up until ten days before the event - meant that some crews held back from taking part.
